For my next vinegar experiment, I decided to clean our showerhead. Although I hadn't noticed any issue with the water flow, I had seen some hard water buildup on the showerhead. This one is super easy. You just put some white distilled vinegar in a plastic baggie and secure it around your showerhead with a rubber and or pipe cleaner. Leave it on for an hour or so and then wipe with a wet cloth. The verdict?
Grade: A...or maybe I should just give it a passing grade since it's just so easy and you can see from the pictures below that it really did get clean - on the outside at least. I really can't say if this made any difference on the inside of the showerhead and, like I said, we weren't having any issues with water flow so I can't judge it that way.

ReplyDeleteI have a gallon jug of vinegar I bought probably a year ago, the last time I was inspired by vinegar. Unfortunately, it has sat rather untouched all this time, until I was again inspired by vinegar through your blog. Thanks to you, I now have a clean microwave and shower head! And because the vinegar was already sitting out, I decided to use it on a badly burnt pot of rice (that I had not cooked!). Even after I had let it soak in water for more than a couple days, mainly because I didn't want to tackle it, the blackened rice was still caked on so thick it wouldn't budge. After one night of soaking in vinegar and some water, it came off with hardly any scrubbing needed. Try it!
ReplyDeleteChrissy, that's awesome. And it would have been good to know after I ruined that pot of yours when I forgot I had ramen noodles on the stove and I let all the water boil off and the noodles stuck to the pot. :-)
